Senior Information

GRADUATION DAY RULES AND EXPECTATIONS:

PICTURES

Pictures will be taken by a professional photographer. Students will be provided a card to complete with contact information when they arrive and hand it to the photographer so they can contact you with the photos after the ceremony date.

DIPLOMA

Diploma covers will be handed out during the ceremony, but actual diplomas will be mailed after the ceremony. Please make sure that we have the correct address in our system via ParentVue or give us a call.

BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

Students are expected to:

  • Fully read and understand the rules and procedures for the ceremony
  • Maintain behavior in line with the dignified nature of the commencement event including:
    • attire beneath their gowns that is semi-formal/ business casual and aligns with school dress code
    • respectful and courteous behavior
    • no stage stunts
    • appropriate and minimal decoration of graduation caps, must be in line with dress code- no imagery or language of an explicit, illegal, or inappropriate nature: No sex, drugs, gun/weapons, & violence images or references
    • no use of phones or noise makers

RULES OF ENTRY TO VIKING PAVILION 

There are several important rules that our hosts at PSU ask of us:

  1. No balloons or confetti are allowed inside the pavilion
  2. All bags will be inspected upon entry - please keep bags small to not create delays at the door
  3. Guests can only bring in sealed bottles of water.  Other beverages and unsealed water are not allowed.
  4. Please do not bring any posters or banners - we cannot hang them in the facility
  • 60 DAY RULE begins March 30th. Seniors shall be disqualified from participation in commencement exercises and related activities if they are found to be in violation resulting in serious disciplinary action. 
  • SENIORS VS STAFF BASKETBALL GAME will be held in the gym on Thursday, May 21st  3:45pm-5:00pm.  Connect with Mr. Wilson for more details.  
  • SENIOR PROM will be on Saturday, May 9th at the Jupiter Hotel, 800 E Burnside from 7-10pm.
  • SENIORS’ LAST DAY is Thursday, May 28th.  The last day with a normal bell schedule with students attending classes is Wednesday May 27th.                                 
  • SENIOR CHECK OUT will take place  on the morning of Thursday, May 28th. Students must fully complete all steps in the senior check out in order to receive graduation tickets.
  • FEES from lost books or unpaid athletics need to be paid in full before senior checkout. Please contact Sheli Bryan at sbryan@pps.net  or 503-916-5100 extension 88412.  
  • SENIOR BBQ celebration for seniors only will be held on the athletic field from 1:00-2:30pm on Thursday, May 28th as a part of senior check-out.
  • SENIOR AWARDS ASSEMBLY where we will award OSAC scholarships and recognize senior accomplishments will be held on the Seniors last day, Thursday May 28th.
  • GRADUATION is at 4:30pm on Tuesday, June 2nd at Portland State University’s Viking Pavillion (930 SW Hall St).  Doors will open at 4pm.
  • GRADUATION PRACTICE will be in Benson’s auditorium on Thursday, May 28th as part of the check-out day and bbq.  Participation in the practice is mandatory.
  • GRADUATION TICKETS we are limiting the number for the ceremony to 8 per family.  For students above 90% attendance, additional tickets will be available.  For students with attendance below 90% they will be able to earn extra graduation tickets by improving their attendance between March 11th and Friday, May 22nd.  If you would like to know your student’s current attendance percentage, please contact mgranville@pps.net.  A reminder that a student’s attendance percentage is calculated based on overall attendance and does not factor in excused absences.   
  • CAPS, GOWNS, AND GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS must be ordered through Jostens at josten.com. Distribution for those who have already ordered will be on Friday, March 13th with a makeup delivery date on April 23rd, 2026.  You must have your graduation regalia ordered to participate in the ceremony.
  • CLUB CORDS must be ordered through group advisors and the bookkeeper. Ask your group advisor or Call or email the bookkeeper Sheli Bryan at sbryan@pps.net  or 503-916-5100 extension 88412.
  • MAJOR STOLES Talk to your Major teacher about stoles. All seniors that have successfully completed 3 years of their CTE major are eligible for a major stole, which must be ordered through SchoolPay.
